Introduction

The "Public Value API" is an HTTP API for querying radio stations with "Public Value". It enables media platforms to easily implement the official requirements for displaying public value services.

The current version is hosted at https://v1.publicvalue.radioplayer.de. Example of a specific endpoint: https://v1.publicvalue.radioplayer.de/districts. A detailed description can be found in the chapter "Endpoints".

Services

In the context of this API, radio stations are called "services".

Motivation

Media platforms available in Germany (e.g. smartphone apps, websites) should show users a "simple and quick-to-find" list of media offerings (e.g. television stations, radio services) with public value. This list is created by the authorities, made publicly available and updated every 3 years.

Districts

The geographical position of the listener is taken into account in the form of districts.

Sorting

The sorting relies on "Containers" and conforms to the recommendation of "die medienanstalten": https://www.die-medienanstalten.de/public-value.
